The pope held, on 08 June, a meeting with members of the Coptic church clergy in order to discuss, Egypt's High Court ruling on 31 May, which allows divorced Egyptian Copts to remarry. The Coptic Orthodox Church is the main Christian Church in Egypt. Divorceremarriage are only permitted by it for "the innocent party in cases of adultery or conversion". The issue has been a controversial one since 2008 after Egypt's Higher Civil Court ruled that Copts who had filed for a civil divorce had the legal right to remarry.  EPA/HATEM WALID
