epa02158980 Participants to a human are gathered to encircle the 13-kilometer-long Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Futenma in Ginowan on Japan's southern island of Okinawa, 16 May 2010. According to the organizers, some 30,000 people took part in the event. The participants hope to use the event to rise attention on their opposition to Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama's plan to relocate MCAS Futenma within Okinawa Prefecture. The situation on the US Marine base move is still uncertainmany residents of both Okinawa are against the key concepts of the new base relocation plan. Local media also reported that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is planning to visit Japan on 21 May to discuss that matter with Japanese government officials.  EPA/HITOSHI MAESHIRO
