epa02179737 An undated handout picture made available on 30 May 2010 by the Antiquities Department in Deir Ezz-Zour province shows the main gate of the Dura Europos site in Syria,a number of archeological findings have recently been discovered by a joint Syrian-French expedition, including cuneiform tabletsstatues. The site was first discovered in 1920. More than 17 temples have been found there. It goes back to the Greco-Roman period, 300 BC,was a stronghold to fend off the Parthian.
