Turkey 4q Gdp Rıses 6% On Year

Turkey's gross domestic product rose by 6% on the year in the fourth quarter after a revised 2.9% contraction in the third quarter, data showed Wednesday.


The Turkish Statistics Institute, or TUIK, revised the third-quarter figure from its original estimate of aof 3.3%.

It also revised the second-quarter figure to show a decline of 7.7% from 7.9%the first quarter figure to a 14.5% contraction from the previous 14.7% decline.

According to the TUIK's statement the country's gross domestic product declined by 4.7% on the year in the whole of 2009.

In the central bank's latest survey, respondents expected GDP to contract by 3.9% this year.
